Project: Science Report, Career & Research

NOTE: Please submit after completing all three parts, write the title of each part in your assignment. Submit your work in the Moodle submission box.

It may take you some time to finish the work, please save the draft, Moodle also has an auto save feature, so you can complete the assignment in more than one sitting. Assignment grading is done only once.

Part 1: Science Report: (20 Points)

Write a report on any Science topic. If you are a returning students, then pick a new Science topic and learn something new.

Your source of information could be "Hands-On activity, DVD/Video, News article, Research topic, lab, Text Book Article" , interview a person who has a career in Science, or any other way you learn about Science on the topic of your choice.

  • Write the date, topic and the source of information at the top of the entry.
  • Explain the Science topic that you have chosen in at least 100 words. 

Note: The minimum requirements is 100 words. It means by writing only 100 words, you may not earn full points. If you want to earn more points then you have to write more details and produce quality work.

  • Use complete sentences.
  • Check for spelling errors.
  • Check for grammatical errors.
  • Note: You will lose points for an incorrect punctuation in your writing. Please pay attention to capitalization, comma, period, "I", etc. and for not citing resources.

Part 2: Career in Science: (40 Points)

This is a research project. You have to research on any two topics of your choice. 

  • If you are a returning student and have already done these topics, then research on a career in Chemistry that you have not done earlier.  
  • It may take you some time to finish the work, please save the draft and submit assignment only after completing all parts.
  • The minimum requirements for each part is 100 words. It means by writing only 100 words, you may not earn full points. If you want to earn more points then you have to write more details and produce quality work. Spend some time in researching.
  • Cite 3-4 resources for each topic and pay attention to spelling, grammar and punctuation, otherwise points will be detected. 
  • Please submit your work in Moodle submission box and label the part that you have answered.

    A: Research on Biology Career 1 - Medicine: Physician 

Create a information fact sheet for a career that uses Biology. 

 Include the following in the fact sheet:

  • Career title with job description.
  • Possible employers for someone with this career.
  • Amount of schooling required to be qualified for the career.
  • How would your day look like on the job? Describe the type of work you may be doing.
  • Other facts for the career (starting salary, how much in demand.
  • Would you like to choose this career? Why?

    B: Research on Biology Career 2 - Nutritionist

Create a information fact sheet for a career that uses Biology. Explore different careers that uses Biology and pick the one that you like.

Include the following in the fact sheet:

  • Career title with job description.
  • Possible employers for someone with this career.
  • Amount of schooling required to be qualified for the career.
  • How would your day look like on the job? Describe the type of work you may be doing.

Part 3: Research Project:  (Total Points: 40)

  • This is a research project. You have to research on any two science topics of your choice. You may pick form the suggested topics in the assignment or your own topic, but please give all details about the topic you picked. I want to see the quality work, this is the idea behind letting you pick the topic. If you are a returning student and have already done these topics, then research on a career in Chemistry that you have not done earlier.  
  • The minimum requirements for each part is 100 words. It means by writing only 100 words, you may not earn full points. If you want to earn more points then you have to write more details and produce quality work. Spend some time in researching.
  • Cite your resources. Use 3-4 resources to find the material. 
  • Please submit your work in Moodle submission box and label the part that you have answered.

  • Any other information that you have found.

    B: Research on Heart Attack

 Provide detailed information on the following: 

  • Describe heart attack

  • Any other information that you have found.

    OR Any other disease that you are interested to learn more about it.
